How this works.

No. Browsing, searching and contacting a company are free, and you don't need an account. Companies pay to be listed; you never pay anything.

Two ways. Some sign up and pay for a listing. Others we add ourselves from information the company has already published, which they can then claim, correct or remove. Paid listings appear above unpaid ones, and Featured and Premium placements are paid or arranged rather than earned by performance. It is a directory, not a ranking of who does the best work.

We check that a company does the kind of work its listing describes and that the details match its own website. We do not inspect anyone's work, confirm licences or insurance, or stand behind what a company does for you. Ask for a licence number, proof of insurance and references before you hire, the same as you would with any contractor.

They describe what a company is paying for, not how good it is. Verified means the company pays for a listing with its contact details and profile confirmed. Premium is a limited placement, two companies per city, shown at the top with photos and reviews. Featured providers are companies the operator of this directory works with directly; they are not charged for that placement. None of the three is a quality award.

The star ratings and reviews you see come from Google and are shown unedited. Neither we nor the company can add, hide or reorder them, and a company only has reviews here once it has confirmed the Google profile is genuinely theirs.

Nothing, because we don't ask for it. There is no enquiry form between you and a company. You call them or visit their site directly, and we never receive, sell or pass on your details.

Tell us through the contact page and we'll fix or remove it. If it's your company, you can claim the listing and edit it yourself, or have it taken down entirely.

A free listing shows your name, city and a link to your site. Verified is $9 a month or $90 a year and adds your phone, address, logo, services and a full profile page. Premium is $99 a month or $990 a year. Paying yearly gives you two months free on either plan.

Only two Premium listings exist in any given city. When both are taken, nobody else can buy one there until one is given up, no matter what they're willing to pay. It's the whole reason Premium is worth having.

Free listings link to your site with a nofollow tag. Paid listings link to it without one. We'd rather say that plainly than dress it up: a link is one part of what you're paying for, alongside the profile page, the placement and being in front of people already looking for the work you do.

A person reviews every submission. Once your details are in, that's usually within one business day.

Any time, from your dashboard, without emailing anyone or explaining yourself. Cancelling stops the billing and your listing stays live until the end of the period you've paid for, then becomes a free listing. You can also remove the listing entirely, which takes it down straight away.

That happens: we compile listings from information companies have already made public. It's yours to control. Claim it and you can edit everything, or remove it and it comes down the same day. We don't argue about it and we don't ask you to justify it.

No. Marketing emails and texts are separate, unticked choices when you sign up, and we don't sell anyone's information.
